I've made shoes like this and LOVE them. If you do enlarge the pattern, don't make the height of the back of the shoe any higher. I made that mistake. The foot gets longer and the instep a little rounder, but the heel-to-ankle is about the same. The next time around should be much funner. :)

I have used a similar pattern (found here: http://family-centered.com/needleworks/soft-baby-shoes/) that seemed a little simpler if you're up for trying something new.

another cute pattern, but *much* simpler is the Bitty Booties one (hope that link works!), which is more of a 'V-neck' style shoe, and very easily customised :)

nova_j got to you 25 minutes earlier than I could! I was going to give you the link to the Bitty Booties also! I made a pair for a friend and it was super easy, and something that you can easily take with you to sew up by hand while on the train, waiting at the doctor's office, or anywhere else where you might have a few spare minutes.
